Office-to-office transfers duration can vary from 3 months to 5 years depending on hosting office needs and applicants availability. Transfers follow groupwide transfer rules but detailed terms and duration is agreed always case by case. During the exchange employee payroll is normally done in the hosting country and after a fixed period, the employee will return to the home country organization.
PID BRIEF: Process Industries Division is one of ÅF Pöyry's key strategic areas with more than 3000 employees working in 14 locations worldwide. We serve our clients globally by providing high quality project management, engineering and technical consulting services for our clients' investment projects as well as development of their daily operations. Our main focus sectors are pulp & paper, chemicals & biorefining, mining &metals and other process industries.
HOST STATUS: Currently PID US’s workload is high with several interesting large-scale pulp projects in early implementation phase. Also with the strategic aim to increase operational phase business with new site offices, this will increase the demand towards our services in all disciplines and competences.
Transferees would be working from/ based at the Appleton, Wisconsin (USA) office, which employs between 70-90 colleagues. The office is located about a three hour drive from Chicago in a urban and suburban area of about 200,000 people.
Currently there are three larger paper mill rebuild and greenfield opportunities in the detailed design phase, hence the need to resource appropriate capability and competence.
POSITION OVERVIEW: These recently won pieces of work in the southern states of the USA, means we are looking for additional experienced Process Engineers for medium length (1-3 years) transfers to the USA.
Reporting to the Discipline Lead, you will work at the client site and interface with the client on a project basis as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: You will assist with the development of P&ID drawings including drafting, and database activities pertaining to the design information on the drawings. You will have the ability to lead P&ID development with limited input from higher level process staff. Specific softwares utilized will include Plant 3D P&ID, and Pro-Elina.
You will also be able to create mass and energy balances for projects and studies with guidance from more senior engineers. Specific softwares utilized will include Cadsim Plus, Wingems, and Excel.
Your role will involve analyzing and defining project scope, estimated cost, and technical aspects of a project in accordance with client and Company specifications. You will perform field surveys in preparation for design.
Further, you will prepare drawings, purchase specifications, schedules, operation manuals, and related details for projects with minimal assistance from higher level personnel as well as assisting in the preparation of construction documents such as project scope of work documents and bidding documents.
Supporting field installation, checkout and start-up of mechanical equipment and piping system will fall within your remit, together with trouble shooting process related issues during startups or mill visits.
You will of course, participate in client and project team meetings as required and you will understand the functionality of process control systems to the operation of process systems. You will also prepare Process Descriptions, and Loop Functional Descriptions.
REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for these opportunities you must be available to travel early in 2020 and opportunities are subject to visas being able to be obtained for you.
You will have good English skills, both written and verbal and you will have the ability to converse with clients and technical groups.
You will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience for the Process Engineer roles.
Essentially, you will be self- motivated and able to work with the minimum of supervision.
It is important that you have already completed design through a major project to be considered for this role
