Pöyry is the leading advisor to companies, organisations and governments in Europe's electricity markets.
In the GB market, we have been the main advisors to market participants since the early 1990s, giving us an incomparable understanding of the value drivers in a market that has changed radically over the period.
At the heart of our work in electricity markets is solid quantitative analysis, using a range of bespoke electricity market models that allow us to understand in detail the key drivers and the main outcomes of changing electricity markets.
The Pöyry renewables team has an in-depth understanding of the evolving markets for renewable electricity, heat and transport across Europe. This is underpinned by 20 years’ experience of modelling electricity and gas markets and in the last twelve years renewables support schemes.
We recognise there are distinct differences between the wide variety of renewable technologies available, and we tailor our services accordingly. This ranges from identifying the impact of intermittency on future electricity price revenues to wind projects to the optimisation of waste revenues between energy from waste technologies. We work closely with our technical colleagues to ensure our analysis takes account of how technical characteristics impact the value of an asset.
Our clients have ranged from banks and finance houses keen to understand risks they might face with an investment; new entrants to a market wanting to understand how the market works/what the future might hold/strategy; and governmental bodies keen to improve the efficiency of the markets they regulate particularly as intermittency becomes an ever important component through increased generation from renewables.
